WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader for our Pittsburgh, PA office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Leading our bridge inspection practice team in the Pittsburgh Area.
  • Organized and efficient in reviewing previous inspection reports and plan field operations
  • Perform inspection work and compile reports in a timely manner
  • Operate equipment (ie, Bucket Trucks, Man-Lifts and Reach-Alls)
  • Assist with writing and submitting of critical condition findings
  • Supervise and direct other field staff including training and mentoring younger staff
  • Enforce safe operations in the field
  • Liaison with client in the field and Technical compliance
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform load ratings on various bridges.
  • Perform analysis for bridge design.
  • Review design calculations for design projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required; Masters Degree is desirable
  • Have 5-10 years of bridge experience in design, construction, inspection, or other bridge engineering related work
  • 5 years NBIS inspection experience
  • Active Pennsylvania State PE License desired, but not required depending on experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights and in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
  • Current PennDOT Bridge Inspection Training, CBSI Certification Training with PennDOT Refresher courses)
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Certified (desired)
  • Valid, unrestricted driver license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with PennDOT’s Bridge Management System (BMS2), I-forms, etc.
  • Familiarity with PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, PA County Agencies, and other PA, OH and NJ transportation agencies is a plus.
