WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Engineer for our Morristown, NJ office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist in the Preparation of traffic engineering design plans, cost estimates and specifications
  • Support & assist in performing traffic operational and safety analysis for transportation facilites
  • Be involoved in  field inventory of traffic engineering facilities, including traffic signs, signals, lighting and curb ramps, etc.
  • work on projects doing traffic data collection, including traffic counts, travel time studies and data reduction
  • Participate in crash data collection and analysis, including crash diagrams and other analysis presentation material
  • Be involoved in construction support services, including construction site visit, prepare change of plans and as-built plans
  • Provide support in preparation of techical reports, graphics and presentation material

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in traffic engineering design, analysis & construction projects.
  • EIT Certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of working with clients throughout the region and the states.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. degree in a related field.
  • Familiar with the MUTCD, HCM, HSM, AASHTO, ITE guidelines, ADA Accessibility Guidelines and the NJDOT Roadway Design Manual.
  • Experience and/or ability to perform field work, including site inventories and/or traffic data collection.
  • Experience with site trip generation, operational analysis of intersections and roadways, crash and safety analyses, signal design, and/or signing and striping layout and design.
  • Experience developing contract packages, including plans, quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
  • Experience in Traffic Analysis Software, such as HCS, Synchro, SIDRA
  • Experience in Highway Safety Analysis software, such as IHSDM
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoTURN, GuideSIGN, Microstation, and/or GIS.
