WSP USA has a current need for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer at our Lawrenceville, New Jersey office location.  Recent graduates with some internship experience will be considered.
 
Position Description
  • Assistant Mechanical Engineer in the design and inspection of Machinery for Heavy Movable Structures such as Movable Bridges, Locks, Dams and Travelers
  • Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in the transportation infrastructure projects
  • Preparation of design phase documents; design calculations and contract plan documents
  • Participation in post design phase of design; shop drawings, shop and field visits, RFIs, and more
  • Highly motivated and able to work in the field
  • Preparation of field and inspection reports
Experience Required:
  • Mechanical engineer with 0-5 years of experience in the design and inspection of Heavy Movable Structures such as Movable Bridges, Locks and Dams
  • Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in transportation infrastructure projects
  • Highly motivated and able to work in the field
  • Good communication skills at all levels, both in oral presentations and written reports
  • Local candidates only
  • Working knowledge of CADD systems such as AutoCAD and Microstation is desired
  • Internship experience in Mechanical Engineering is desired
 
Education Required:
  • The candidate should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in machine design and engineering mechanics
  • Should have either passed the EIT exam or be eligible to take the exam
  • Ability to travel to project sites and work in the field as needed
  • Ability to work in this country immediately required
