WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Engineer for our Colorado Springs office.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected salary: $74,900 - $148,500

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The selected individual will be representing a variety of clients and working on behalf of the client as the construction administrator documenting site activities, preparing pay requests and compliance with federal aid requirements.  Clients include CDOT, City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Denver International Airport and others.
  • May supervise a staff of 2 to 4 people. Staff may include WSP inspectors and sub consultant staff.  Direct staff in oversight duties. Review staff diaries and back check quantities.
  • Daily interaction with contractors and client project managers.  Read and interpret project plans and specifications, monitor and document contractor activities for compliance with project documents. 
  • Monitoring material sampling and testing results. Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures.
  • Draft contractor contract change orders for client review to include back up information and independent cost analysis. 
  • Monitor and report to supervisor project budgets for contractor payments and construction administration
  • Be willing to travel within Colorado for work on construction project sites

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering or Constrtuction Management
  • Completed  and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with construction activities and or experience in the construction trades or education related to civil design and or construction
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SiteManager and LIMS experience, including CDOT documentation procedures and requirements
  • Preferred candidates will possess experience with all or any of the following CDOT, City of Colorado Springs and other Colorado local agency specifications, policies and procedures.
  • Bridge construction experience
  • As project supervisor being familiar with American Concrete Institute (ACI), National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET), American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATTSA) and Erosion Control Supervisor Training (certifications from these organizations is not required but preferred)
  • Ability to read construction plans, knowledge of construction materials, means and methods, cost estimating, and construction scheduling
  • Good driving record
