Bus Engineering Lead - Capital District - 1269

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bus Engineering Lead - Capital District for our Washington, DC office.  This position reports to the Fleet & Facilities Division (FFD) manager, within WSP's Transit & Rail National Business Line. The selected individual will be responsible for providing Full-time technical expertise supporting FFD's Bus and Zero Emission Bus vehicle practice. The selected candidate will be providing technically oriented bus and project delivery expertise, supporting WSP's clients engaged in the procurement and maintenance and operation of Bus fleets. Experience in ZE technologies and associated specifications, standards, and recommended practices is preferred.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
  • 10+ years of experience working in the transit planning field, actively engaging in general plans, specific/master plans, zoning code updates, public involvement, and regulatory compliance for a variety of client projects relating to equitable transportation development and construction, transportation demand management, mobility planning, multimodal access, surface transportation, and funding.  
  • Advanced proficiency with the transportation project development cycle; including from planning to implementation.
  • Highly proficient with reviewing surface transportation projects and program cost estimates and assessing project readiness for inclusion in the strategic local/regional Transportation Plan.
  • Highly proficient expertise with planning skills for a specific ecosystem(s), geography, transportation networks, systems, and modalities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with zero emissions technologies

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree(s) in Mechanical engineering or Business management
  • PMP certification
