This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Environmental Program Manager with a minimum of 15 years’ experience to effectively develop project work, manage and lead multi-disciplined project teams in site strategy, investigation, data analysis, feasibility studies, cost estimating, design, and remedial action typically under CERCLA (Superfund), RCRA administrative orders and/or guidance or other state programs as well as other related environmental projects in support of industrial/commercial, energy and transportation clientele. This exciting opportunity offers a growth position in a team-oriented environment for an individual with an established track record. Candidate should have a successful track record executing and managing large environmental projects. Typical projects include environmental assessments and studies, environmental remediation, and general environmental services. Candidates should be self-motivated, have experience with managing a team and be able to work on complex projects. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of skills including a strong technical understanding of their primary area of practice and experience in other aspects of environmental consulting, including business development and business management interests and experience, and demonstrated relationship-building abilities.      

Your Impact

  • Manage and lead multi-disciplined project teams in site strategy, sample design and collection, data interpretation, geospatial analysis, hydrodynamic modeling, feasibility studies, cost estimating, design, and remedial action 
  • Team leader, client contact, a main communicator with the regulator agencies (EPA and state agencies) and other stakeholders
  • Typical projects will be performed under CERCLA (Superfund) or RCRA administrative orders and/or guidance or other state programs 
  • Development of new clients
  • Network with new and existing clients to effectively position for and develop work opportunities
  • Prepare contract proposals and cost estimates
  • Manage project contracts, staff, budgets and schedules
  • Participation and collaboration with other WSP offices and staff on larger, multidisciplinary assignments. Some daytime and overnight travel is expected (20-30% of the time)
  • Work with and mentor junior and mid-level staff on environmental projects

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering, Scientific Discipline, or related technical field
  • Masters degree or PhD a plus
  • 15 + years of experience
  •  Appropriate professional registration or certification (PE or PG preferred)
  • Experience managing Superfund and RCRA processes including feasibility studies, design, and construction
  • Works with a variety of contaminants (mercury, PCBs, chlorinated organics) and industries (chemical, paper, manufacturing, etc)  
  • Experience in sediment and surface water investigation and remediation
  • Strong skills in technical writing, presentations, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated abilities in leadership, management, and administration
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients
  • Thorough understanding of the company’s resources, capabilities, business practices, and financial model
  • If the job requires work on hazardous waste sites, then a physical exam is required to obtain medical clearance
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
