This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time  Field Engineer for our Chicago, IL office.  Be involved in projects with our PM/CM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Must be knowledgeable of various client construction specifications and contract management. 
  • Act as a point of contact between the client, project team, and contractors. 
  • Manage the construction management team, including sub-consultants  
  • Ensures the performance of assigned work complies with contractual requirements, specifications and special provisions 
  • Perform or oversee field inspection, including preparing and reviewing daily inspection reports. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, and contractors. 
  • Manage the construction management team, including sub-consultants. 
  • Review and make recommendations for contractors' project schedules and non-conforming work 
  • Analyze and negotiate contract change orders 
  • Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field experience 
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) on transportation or construction projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents  
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies  
  • Availability to work day, night, or weekend shifts required.
  • Valid drivers’ license 
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on an operating railroad 
  • Experience with e-Builder
