WSP is currently initiating a search for an Orlando Water Lead in our Orlando, Florida market with extensive experience in the Industry. 

This individual will lead the Orlando water group and interface with other water leaders across Florida and the U.S operations. A major part of this role will also include leading and mentoring our team’s talented engineers in a supportive and flexible atmosphere where the focus is teamwork, quality deliverables and excellent client service.   You will be engaged in exciting municipal water / wastewater projects including CMAR water reclamation facility design, pump stations, pipeline design, water quality monitoring, and water resources across Central Florida. Our professionals are networked across the WSP organization and are active in technical organizations advancing our practice. WSP’s Orlando Water Team currently has a staff of 7 including junior and senior engineers, process engineers, and CAD experts and is part of an 80+ Florida water resources team.  The successful candidate will supervise staff, manage local projects, and support business development. They will work closely with team members, both locally and nationally, towards the successful completion of a variety of water resource projects and continue to build our water presence locally.

Your Impact

  • Work with other Senior Engineers /Engineering Managers supporting our Water groups across the East region.
  • Lead an established project team completing projects that include tasks such as water reclamation, potable water, and wastewater facility design, construction management at risk, and municipal water resource projects.
  • Lead and support business development and strategic planning efforts to increase market share in priority markets, including local and state clients with an emphasis on water/wastewater. This includes estimating project costs and preparing proposals and task order documents.
  • Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, positive motivation, training, and employee recognition. Support engineering staff in professional development.
  • Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing assignments to meet client, contract and company business objectives.
  • Act as program/project manager and/or provide senior level technical support/ review for select projects and programs in planning, analysis, engineering and/or design associated water resources.
  • Ensure the technical quality of deliverables.
  • Convey projects updates, methods, results, and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations, and project documentation. This will include occasional travel to project sites, attendance at public meetings and presentations at professional conferences. 
  • Support financial, project management, backlog, and utilization reporting requirements for the Orlando Water Team.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Civil Engineering, Water Resources or closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in water / wastewater engineering.
  • Florida Professional Engineering License. 
  • Strong business development with connections to local agencies and municipalities in Central Florida
  • Experience with change management.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience.
