WSP’s Lawrenceville , NJ office has an opening for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer, with a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent.  Candidate must possess a Professional Engineer’s License and be competent in all conventional aspects of technical civil design to support transportation projects.  Candidate must be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment with regard to standard design and engineering techniques and procedures for roadway projects.  Candidate will work on small projects or portions of larger projects in a team-oriented environment.  Candidate will be a task leader for specific Civil Engineering aspects of a project’s design, including development of roadway layout, grading, drainage, access, Right-of-Way, roadway sections, earthwork, quantity calculation, construction cost estimation and utility relocation schemes.
We are seeking a candidate with effective oral/written communication skills who can assist with client contacts at meetings/and other specific client interaction.  Proficiency and demonstrated hands-on experience in Microstation and InRoads, as well as AutoCAD and Civil3D is required.  Member of professional practice organizations and outreach activities is a plus.  Familiarity with NJDOT and New Jersey Turnpike requirements a plus.

Specific responsibilities:
  • Civil/Highway task lead for projects - responsible for key project elements or independent assignments on all phases of transportation design projects.
  • May plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of junior level staff, technicians, administrative staff and draftspersons.
  • Proficient in use of the following software - preferred proficiency using AutoCAD/ Civil3D and/or Microstation / InRoads.
  • Prepare project schedules using Primavera software.
  • Support senior staff with client relations, client and in-house technical presentations.
  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • NJ Professional Engineering License a must.
  • Minimum 6 - 10 years experience in civil/highway design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in preparing drawings using Microstation and InRoads.
  • Proficient in preparing drawings using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Experience using Scheduling Software.
  • Proficiency with applying AASHTO, and NJDOT, design standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of County/Municipal requirements and guidelines.
