WSP is currently initiating a search for a Grants Development & Management Senior Consultant to expand our team of experts that help our clients plan, prepare for, win, and manage competitive grant funding from federal, state, and local sources. This position can sit out of any one of our Advisory service hub locations. 

This position would serve Energy, Utility, Government and Transportation clients nationwide helping meet their clean energy objectives through advising on technical and strategic considerations in selecting the best projects for competitive funding. As a member of our national Grants Development & Management group, the Senior Consultant will develop compelling grant applications to fund client projects across an array of disciplines including, but not limited to:

  • renewable power generation
  • electrification of transportation assets
  • carbon capture and storage
  • Hydrogen
  • Highway, transit and rail 

Your Impact

  • Develop grants and design funding strategy for projects in the disciplines listed above, on behalf of clients, and in collaboration with the Advisory team and other WSP practice groups;
  • Contribute to business development activities in pursuit of grant support consultant contracts;
  • Contribute to client engagement and foster client relationships; current with trends, opportunities, etc 
  • Manage and mentor junior consultants working on grants
  • Support clients in sectors such as energy, transportation and resilience with grant management, including compliance and reporting requirements 
  • Serve as task lead / key staff for grant assistance contracts; manage scope, schedule, and budget
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of federal policy and grant guidelines
  • Provide grant writing and funding strategy support for infrastructure projects
  • Actively contribute to client relationships (both internally and externally)
  • Support the professional growth of our junior consultants within the Grants Development & Management group


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of total work experience
  • Grant writing experience for U.S Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, and/or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other, federal, state, local and foundation/non-profit organizations
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • A demonstrated passion for supporting clients with pursuing grants 
  • 3-4 years of experience in the energy and/or sustainability industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of the technologies and trends in conventional and renewable electric power production, hydrogen production and usage applications, electric vehicles, industrial decarbonization, and carbon removal.
  • Post Graduate Education (Graduate Level Courses Short Courses, Masters, PhD)
  • Active member of local professional organizations

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
