WSP is currently initiating a search for a Welding Inspector for our Baltimore City office, to work at DC Water Project Site. Be involved in projects with our PM/CM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact: Job Description You will be responsible for determining if a weldment meets the acceptable criteria of the code, standard, specification; and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT). Welding Inspector responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Ensure weldment meets the acceptable criteria of codes, standards, and contract specifications • Handle qualification records • Oversee non-destructive testing • Ensure materials are available during testing • Ensure all safety measures are in-place to avoid potentially catastrophic mistakes • Prepare daily reports for construction activity and detail any deficiencies or other problems, and make responsible judgements • Act as the Owner's agent with regards to the construction process • Understand, evaluate and solve construction related field issues • Keep detailed records of contractor’s performance and progress • Oversee/Track the technical submittal, shop drawing review and RFI process • Evaluate and review contractor schedule and pay applications • Assist the Project Manager in evaluating the merits of contractor issued change orders and claims • Review and assess progress of work for compliance with approved construction schedule • Monitor contractor's Quality Control plan and conformance with project quality requirements • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Who You Are Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent approved diploma • 9 years' experience in construction, with welding inspection experience • Certified Welding Inspector certificate is a MUST • Experience with steel polymer tanks welding • Experience with field weld testing (NDT) inspection • Familiar with welding process and procedure • Familiar with material and weld testing limitations • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings • Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills • Familiarity with the use of variety project control systems such as Contract Manager/Primavera Unifier; for generating daily inspection reports • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies • Valid driver's license This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP Relocation assistance is not available for this position #LI-MP1 |
