We are looking for a talented Structural Engineer (Underground) with 3+ years experince to join our growing Geotechnical and Tunneling Team in our Washington D.C. office. We are working on some of the biggest and most challenging underground projects in the area (and the world), constructing new tunnels and renovating existing ones. Your Impact

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering design and analyses for tunnels and underground structures under the supervision of senior engineers
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers
  • Design and analysis of reinforced concrete, steelwork, tunnel linings  
  • Underground subway station framing design and analysis
  • Field inspection of existing underground structures
  • Field inspection of construction
  • Assist in the preparation of drawings, studies and designs of underground projects
  • Assist task leaders in preparation of reports and Contract Documents

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Structral Engineering 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural or tunnel engineering practice
  • Strong background in structural analysis, familiar with structural engineering software such as SAP2000, STAAD and spColumn. Familar with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or Revit
  • Good understanding and knowledge of structural engineering and related disciplines (structures, civil, geotechnical, and planning)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (ability to communicate effectively with other disciplines, managers, and other staff)
  • Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures  
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Structral Engineering  
  • Professional Engineering License
