This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of civil / geotechnical engineering projects with a focus on construction quality assurance (CQA), foundation engineering, site characterization, slope stability, natural hazards assessment and geotechnical engineering for energy and transportation projects.    

Your Impact

• Will assist in writing record of construction reports (as-built reports) for landfills and pond closures
• Geotechnical investigation, design and construction quality assurance of utility projects such as tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, foundations and other infrastructure
• Design calculations such as slope stability evaluation and settlement - Assist preparing technical reports

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering, (Geotechnical empahsis and MS degree a plus)
• 5 years + professional experience
• Construction materials testing experience
• Good writing and communication skills 
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience preparing record of construction reports for heap leach facilities and tailings storage facilities 
• Civil 3D experience 
• CQA field experience for earthworks and geomembrane installation
• GCI-ICP certified inspector
• Professional Engineer, (PE) license
• Bilingual in Spanish

Physical Demands 

• Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
• Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
• Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
• Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
