This Opportunity 

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Superintendent of Construction with a Civil Background (Construction) for our client's Dannemora and Raybrook, NY Field Office.  Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact: :
•Provide assistance to New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Project Manager as directed
•Assist in coordinating contractor’s daily work activities
•Assist in coordinating quality control of contractors work
•Assist in resolving design issues and questions from contractor 
•Coordinating contractor’s Code Compliance
•Manage and monitor contractor safety 
•Assist in coordinating with EIC on project closeout
•Actively manage, focus on civil mechanical, electrical and plumbing components for various clients
•Actively track, monitor, research validity and compliance with Contract documents for all work from inception to final closure. 
•Communicate with Contractors and project team.  
•Assist with managing project contract documents, codes, policies and procedures
•Assist PM or EIC with payment application review, writing minutes of project meetings, preparing regular reports, field inspections as required and other duties related to construction site activities
•Assist in reviewing contract claims & advise senior management
•Travel throughout the region may be required, vehicle will be necessary with valid driver’s license
•Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


Who You Are

•7 years minimum experience in construction involving multiple phases of medium-to-large scale building/rehabilitation projects, with multiple contracts, valued above $1 million, with knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.
•High School Diploma
•Experience as an assistant superintendent or inspector on large scale multi contract, building projects.
•Must be able to assist in the development of a project work plan, monitor manpower and performance against that work plan.
•Must be able to assist in detailed comparison of the design drawings against each other to ensure coordination between each of the various project trades.
•Must be able to manage the various projects using established controls and procedures and provide job site leadership in all areas of scheduling, safety, quality, coordination with the designers and any critical issues pertinent to the project or the client / facility. 
•Candidate should have strengths in the area of work they will manage; knowledge of inspection requirements for various trades.
•Strong Electrical Engineering background with experience of inspection requirements for various trades
•Have a full working knowledge of the change order and cost review process and the review / approval of contractor’s payment application.
•Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Windows / Outlook / Word / Excel and scheduling applications
•Understanding of construction scheduling utilizing Primavera P6
•Strong interpersonal skills
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Valid driver’s license - Occasional travel within the region will be required.
•Must be available to work alternate work hours on as needed basis.
•Proven ability to adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
•Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request. 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree 
• Knowledge of NYS Building Code
• OSHA 30 Hour certified 

 This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.

 Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $61,600 - $101,750
