WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Enclosures for our Los Angeles, California office.  The following locations will also be considered: Irvine, California.

Work will include building enclosure design consulting and commissioning, new building, restoration, and repair design of roofing and vertical building enclosures. Typical services may include building exterior design detailing, specification review, construction phase consulting services, forensic investigation, condition assessment, and building science analysis.  Candidate will be expected to manage teams of multiple staff on multiple projects at the same time, offer technical guidance, coordinate with the appropriate technical leads for the project and be the primary point of contact for the client.

Your Impact

  • Provide building enclosure commissioning and consulting services
  • Assist project teams with completing building enclosure design reviews
  • Review fenestration, vertical facade, roofing systems, and waterproofing
  • Assist with performing technical reviews
  • Provide support in completing on-site forensic investigations
  • Assist with conducting functional performance testing of enclosure systems
  • Perform on-site construction observations (access to personal transportation is required)

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management, or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in building enclosures related work
  • Experience in quality control and management is required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of building construction is required. Includes extensive experience with building planning, design, vertical exterior façade, roofing, waterproofing and construction management involving commercial and residential buildings; including active involvement in a variety of renovation and new design projects. 
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, load calculations, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Maintains strong relationships with clients and external professional and industry groups.
  • Extensive and successful business development experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and installation of equipment, materials, and systems.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with discipline-specific design software such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam (Revit, WUFI, THERM, energy modeling a plus).
  • Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in one of the above-listed disciplines
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer in the state of California.
  • Highly proficient with third-party green building rating systems (LEED, Passive House, LBC, WELL, or related).
  • Strong knowledge of green building construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Compensation


Expected Salary (all locations): $100,500 - $150,000


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
