This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President Environmental Engineer to support our contaminated land, remediation, water resources, and environmental compliance projects in our Redmond, Washington office.  Be involved in projects with our Site Assessment & Restoration Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 
  
In this role, you will support our project delivery and growth in remediation and related sectors and will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers in our Pacific Northwest office locations and throughout the U.S.  Our ideal candidate will be a significant contributor both with strategy and delivery on a team providing project and client management services for site investigation, feasibility studies, remedial design, and construction management for both private and public clients.

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase environmental engineering work processes, due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects.  Ensures project elements and processes relating to water supply, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, pollution control, and preserving the environment. are conveyed and acted upon with a high level of quality and compliance.  Responsible for providing situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future environmental challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address long-term risks to ecological and human health.  Leads environmental site assessments, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, and treatment, disposal, and/or onsite remediation activities to avert degradation of air, water, and land resources.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Provide technical direction and oversight as well as mentoring and training to junior-level Golder staff for site investigation and remediation projects
  • Project Management and client interaction
  • Contaminated land site assessment
  • Hazard waste site characterization
  • Preparation of Feasibility Studies under CERCLA and state programs
  • Managing and performing remedial design under CERLCA and state cleanup programs
  • Design, installation, and operation of treatment systems for site remediation
  • Regulatory permitting, environmental compliance, and liabilities management
  • Performance monitoring and reporting for permit compliance
  • Completing assigned work scopes on time and within budget and in compliance with WSP-Golder's project management and delivery requirements and guidelines
  • Proposal writing and maintaining/developing client relationships to ensure project delivery and generation or repeat business.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer registration, preferably in Washington 
  • A minimum 10 years of experience in environmental remediation projects
  • In-depth experience in planning and executing investigation and remediation programs for a diverse set of clients
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management and team leadership skills
  • Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the desire to excel
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory programs (e.g., MTCA, RCRA, CERCLA)
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. 
  • Position requires some travel and fieldwork.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying and leading project pursuits
  • Experience in mine site investigation, feasibility studies, and remediation
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience evaluating and designing treatment systems for site remediation
  • Good knowledge of chemistry and process engineering, especially in the environmental remediation design
  • Construction management experience

Compensation and Benefits: 
WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. 

Expected Salary: $130,400 - $190,300
