Your Impact

  • Perform basic electrical engineering design tasks for power systems, electrical distribution, indoor/outdoor lighting, grounding, and lightning protection, as well as systems such as communications, access control, security, IT, and fire alarm in conformance with codes, standards, construction practices, and client’s goals.
  • Provide design for buildings, facilities, roadways, airports, passenger rail systems, schools, and other unique projects.
  • Dive into the developing energy landscapes of EV charging facilities, PV power generation, hydrogen-fueled vehicle facilities. 
  • Participate in sustainable design projects geared toward energy efficiency, resiliency, and future-proofed infrastructure. 
  • Produce designs and develop construction drawings within software modeling applications such as Revit and AutoCAD.  
  • Support senior engineers with design and document development.
  • Under supervision, develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility electrical service and power distribution, as well as lighting photometric calculations.
  • Contribute to technical reports summarizing designs and field investigations.
  • Proactively collaborate in-person and remotely with multi-discipline design teams in executing projects.
  • Expand construction understanding and appreciate our clients’ perspectives while assisting with on-site field investigations, construction inspections, and client visits.
  • Support construction activities such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to contractor’s requests for information, and participating in progress meetings.
  • Complete company training on assigned tasks.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering-Electrical.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design, and construction.  
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other electrical standards.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office and remote communication platforms, mobile technology, spreadsheets, and other software applications.
  • Experience using software applications Revit MEP or AutoCAD for electrical designs.
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior design experience.
  • Experience using the NEC.
  • Experience using software applications: AGi32, SKM PowerTools, Bluebeam.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
  • Knowledge of FAA aviation lighting standards.
