WSP USA Buildings, Inc., an award winning and innovative multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is looking for a Building Technology Systems Senior Consultant specializing in Telecommunications & Security systems design for our Portland, OR and Seattle, OR offices. WSP works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

Our Engineers are subject matter experts who can effectively communicate and coordinate technical topics with owners, architects, other engineers, contractors and vendors. 

Your Impact

  • Provide designs for telecommunications systems (structured cabling systems, telecom spaces, pathway infrastructure), electronic safety & security systems (IP video surveillance, access control, intercom), and audiovisual systems (image display, sound reinforcement and reproduction, control, signal distribution) 
  • Coordinate with clients to gather and document system and design requirements. 
  • Create design narratives and coordinated, construction documents (drawings and CSI Specifications). 
  • Budget fee responsibility on assigned projects. 
  • Manage project resources to complete deliverables including technical staff and drawing production staff. 
  • Coordinate, host and participate in project meetings (local and out-of-town) with the design team and clients. 
  • Participate in construction meetings, review and respond to Technology system submittals and RFIs 
  • Perform site surveys to document construction progress. 
  • Coordinate integration of security and telecommunications systems with other intelligent building systems. (BMS, Lighting control, AV etc.) 
  • Understanding of local and national codes and industry standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA, BICSI, EIA/TIA) related to the design and operation of Security and Telecommunications systems. 
  • Participate in business and client relationship development and in preparing proposals and fees under supervision of a bid manager or lead.  

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in an AV and Telecommunications discipline with prior smart building technology design experience. 
  • Proficient knowledge with building technology principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues. 
  • Design experience for Security and Telecommunications systems for buildings’ projects of various types and sizes. (Healthcare, Commercial office, Hospitality, Science and Technology, High rise Residential, Mission Critical)) 
  • Design experience related to Audiovisual, DAS and/or Data Network/Wi-Fi/Telephony is a plus but not required. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.  
  • Revit experience desired.  
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software. 
  • Comfortable working directly with clients including architects and building owners. 
  • Industry certification (ASIS CPP, BICSI RCDD, AVIXA (InfoComm) CTS/-D, Cisco CCNA, etc.) is a plus although not required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.

Compensation


Expected Salary (all locations): $69,600 - $157,000


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
