This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil AutoCAD Drafter with experience in the Waste Industry for our Texas Environmental and Engineering Teams in our Houston, TX office location. The ideal candidate will be capable of editing and developing engineering drawing sets in coordination with engineers, drafters and designers.
Your Impact
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, structural concepts, blueprints, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities for single, multi-phase, or multi-site project work.
- Modify Existing Drawing packages and Develop Drawing packages (plans, profiles, sections and details, etc.) associated with civil earthworks, mine infrastructure (tailings, heap leach pad, waste rock stockpile design), reclamation, storm-water and surface-water controls, groundwater science, landfill design and remediation, and civil design for power sector and water treatment facilities, as directed by the Team Leader, Team members and/or project engineer.
- Integrate Civil 3d components representing various engineering features such as graded terrain, waterways, wetlands, roads, railroads, etc.
- Assist in overseeing Drafting Support activities for projects of a moderate scope and complexity within a district.
- Monitor drafting and design plans to ensure quality control; documenting work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 0-2 years’ experience.
- Strong skills utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD 2022 and Civil 3D 2022 or newer. An emphasis on using modern and efficient tools and workflows within AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a priority. (External References, Annotative object, Sheet Sets, Surfaces, Alignments, Profiles, Cogo Points, Data shortcuts, etc.)
- Skills associated with importing\exporting data to and from other software packages in the industry, like ArcGIS, Bentley
- Practiced and demonstrated knowledge of drafting support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
- Developing knowledge of, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Practiced skills in core technical areas of related software applications.
- Practiced competency with ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of geometry and mathematical concepts, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate standards or regulations.
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
- Practiced competency with, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective and logical solution.
- Developing competency and ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year Certificate or Diploma from an accredited technical school or college in CADD/Engineering Technology
- Ability to Compile 3D models of structures, equipment, piping, and terrain.
- Ability to work with some or all the following software: ArcGIS and other ESRI products, CAD Worx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design, AutoCAD Visual Basic for Applications.
