This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Civil Engineer for our Newark, NJ or Morristown, NJ office.  Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges!

This position would be focused around advancing the skills of a Civil/Roadway task lead for projects who would be responsible for key project elements and independent assignments on all phases of transportation design projects.

Your Impact

  • Civil/Roadway task lead for projects - responsible for key project elements or independent assignments on all phases of transportation design projects.
  • May plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of junior level staff, technicians, administrative staff and draftspersons.
  • Proficient in use of the following software - preferred proficiency using Microstation / InRoads / OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD/ Civil3D.
  • Support senior staff with client relations, client and in-house technical presentations.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant post education experience in Civil / Highway design, for NJTA/PANYNJ/NJDOT/Local & County projects.
  • Engineer in Training Certification, Professional Engineer License preferred.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Has attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proficient in preparing drawings using Bentley Microstation, InRoads and/or OpenRoads software.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
