This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Civil Project Manager for our Los Angeles, Irvine, or San Bernardino, CA office. Be involved in projects with our Civil Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

WSP is looking to build our Transportation Design Team for local agency roadway and civil engineering projects in the Southern California Area. Join our team as a project manager and help shape the future of Southern California transportation.  

The ideal candidate will identify opportunities and provide project leadership on civil engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors and employees.

Your Impact

  • Lead transportation project business development efforts and participate in proposal presentation activities for local agency roadway and intersection projects and/or site civil projects.
  • Attract new clients, ensure customer satisfaction and build strong market relationships.
  • Manage projects and maintain schedule, budget, and profitability of assigned projects, overseeing preparation of projects for preliminary engineering and environmental, plans, specifications, and estimates, and design support during construction.
  • Prepare, manage and review project deliverables including planning, design and construction documents, project reports, environmental studies, cost estimates, scopes of work, and proposals, ensuring quality requirements, professional standards, client requirements and corporate objectives are met.
  • Provide coordination with other design disciplines and remote office locations, including: Planning, Environmental, Roadway, Structures, Hydraulics/Drainage, Transit, Aviation and Traffic.
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment, and successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, relying upon demonstrated experience in design quality control programs.
  • Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Proven success in leading staff and delivering various types of infrastructure projects
  • Extensive knowledge of the southern California market
  • Business development or pursuit experience
  • Ability to work independently and provides guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Local agency roadway and intersection planning and design experience.
  • Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $146,700 - $232,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
