This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Designer to join our East Energy team. The following locations will be considered: Massachusetts (Boston); New York (Buffalo/Rochester/Binghamton/Albany); Connecticut (Glastonbury/Shelton/Orange); Maine (Augusta/Eliot/Portland). Your Impact

  • The Designer is responsible for the following functions:
    • CAD work during the conceptual engineering phase of the project
    • Provide support during the detailed engineering phase of the project by drafting key concepts needed to convey intent to the design engineer as needed
    • Review a sample of all drawings supplied by detailed engineering firm to ensure compliance with Owner’s CAD standards, this includes items such as:
    • Border and revision procedures and compliance
    • Line and text style weights, fonts, heights, etc. 
    • Overall drawing format issues
    • Proper use of CAD layers in drawings
    • Review and proper filing of as-built drawing work associated with all projects
  • Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma as a minimum requirement; Associate degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior drafting and design support experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working in consulting firms.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification.

Expected Salary: $53,100 - $87,670
