This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Environmental Scientist/ Ecologist for our Norcross, GA office. The following location will also be considered: Kennesaw, GA and Marietta, GA. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

  • Jurisdictional wetland delineation 
  • Environmental oversight during construction to ensure compliance with permit conditions
  • Threatened and endangered species surveys
  • Assessment of potential impacts to wetlands and/or protected species
  • Entrainment sampling at power generation facilities in support of CWA 316(b) compliance
  • Support for preparation of applications for GA Environmental Protection Division and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits
  • Wetland and stream mitigation monitoring
  • Local and/or national travel (up to 50% of the time) with possible short-term or long-term assignments at project sites

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Fisheries, or related field
  • 0-1 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with Georgia/Southeastern U.S. wetland ecology, wildlife ecology, and/or botany
  • Fluency in regulatory agency guidelines in the state of Georgia (GA EPD, GA DNR, USACE, USFWS)
  • GIS experience
  • Capable of producing clear and concise written technical documents
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Comfortable with managing a workflow that includes field work and completion of reporting tasks for multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Capable of working independently and effectively with a team, both office and field settings
  • Self-motivated, reliable and dedicated individual

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
  • Experience Operating of 4x4 vehicles and boats.
