This Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer in our Newark, NJ office to provide delivery of high voltage electrical substation designs for our projects.

The Early Career Substation Engineer will work under the leadership of Supervising Engineer. The Candidate is required to work within a multi-discipline team to design efficient and reliable high voltage substations. The engineer will coordinate his/her design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. The engineer will also assist the Estimating Team in preparation of estimates and project proposals.

Your Impact

  • Work under mentorship and guidance of the Supervising Engineer. 
  • Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
  • Design of electrical substation facilities including site and bus work layouts, ground grids, controls, protection, and metering.
  • Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
  • Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.
  • Resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
  • Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.
  • Making and maintaining appropriate commitments to project teams and coordinating design activities with multi-disciplined project team members.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with internal groups that support projects.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with material suppliers, contractors, and any others that affect the quality, schedule and cost of projects.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Newly graduate, with a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution. Must provide the curriculum of Electric Power courses taken during the studies. 
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Employment authorization to work in the United States immediately
  • Eligible for P.E. licensing
  • Candidate must undergo pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background investigation.
  • Position located at client offices with travel to the site on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
