This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Traffic Engineer for our Philadelphia, PA office. Be involved in projects with our Traffic/ITS Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

  • Assist in the preparation of traffic engineering design plans, cost estimates and specifications
  • Support & assist in performing traffic operational and safety analyses for transportation facilites 
  • Be involoved in field inventory of traffic engineering facilities, including traffic signs, signals, lighting, curb ramps, etc.
  • Conduct traffic data collection, including traffic counts and travel time studies
  • Participate in crash data collection and analysis, including crash diagrams and other analysis presentation material
  • Be involoved in construction support services, including construction site visits, change orders, and as-built plans 
  • Provide support in preparation of techical reports, graphics and presentation material

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or related degree.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
    Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EIT Certification
  • Familiar with the MUTCD, HCM, HSM, AASHTO, ITE, NACTO guidelines, ADA Accessibility Guidelines and PennDOT Publications and Design Manuals.
  • Familiarity with the intersection between engineering, planning, and land use in transportation policy and equity goals.
  • Experience and/or ability to perform field work, including site inventories and/or traffic data collection.
  • Experience with maintenance and protection of traffic concepts and design, traffic signal design, and/or signing and striping layout and design and ITS fieldwork and design. 
  • Experience with site trip generation, operational analysis of intersections and roadways, crash and safety analyses. 
  • Experience developing contract packages, including plans, quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
  • Experience in Traffic Analysis Software, such as HCS, Synchro, SIDRA
  • Experience in Highway Safety Analysis software, such as IHSDM
  • Experience with AutoTURN, GuideSIGN, Microstation, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
