This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Transit and Rail Engineer for our Washington DC Office.  The candidate will be involved in projects with our Transit & Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

  • Support WSP’s engineering staff in preparing design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications fleet operations and vehicle maintenance facilities
  • Effectively complete workflow/job analysis 
  • Assist in preparation and editing of reports, design criteria documents, drawings 
  • Ability to utilize analytical techniques in solving technical problems
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with minimal supervision
  • Involved in a wide range of projects including transit, public works, military, and maintenance facilities with the opportunity to provide the opportunity to work on major public projects 
  • Assist with preparation of project specifications and calculations
  • Review drawings and project documents for quality
  • Prepare project reports as assigned
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s
  • Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required by business needs
  • Work is primarily located in the Washington, DC region and candidates should expect regular client or in-person office work.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related degree.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or expected May 2024 Graduate in an accredited Bachelor's Engineering degree, or related, Graduate program.
  • The successful candidate will have 0-3 years of internship experience in rail transportation 
  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Microsoft Office
  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request. 
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
