This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Engineer for our San Francisco, CA Office. Be involved in projects with our Northern California Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, future-focused projects and business objectives. You will actively participate in the full project lifecycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. You will work closely with architects and owners on small to large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities, and many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm.

Your Impact

Responsibilities include (under supervision with a senior engineer):

  • Work in a team and/or independent setting, planning and executing electrical engineering tasks for projects under supervision with a senior engineer.
  • Demonstrate time and task management within project budgets/timelines.
  • Operate as a developing team member contributing a full range of electrical design activities, such as equipment layouts and sizing, load calculations, energy code calculations, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuiting and controls, electrical circuiting, coordinating with other trades and consultants, in addition to other related tasks.
  • Routinely researches & recommends the fundamental components required by code for electrical designs.
  • Assists in documenting electrical designs under direct supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Attend client meetings, field activities and coordination meetings. 
  • Collaborate on presentation material and ideas with other staff.
  • Participate in the development of internal reports for client meetings.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Exposure to operations and project controls experience for purposes of reporting.
  • Interest in a wide range of market sectors – such as healthcare, commercial, high-rise residential, aviation, retail, data center, etc.  
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, design/bid/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues. 
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction standards, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP.
  • Working knowledge of Revit.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • P.E. and/or LEED AP.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $61,000 - $128,900

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
