This Opportunity

WSP currently has an exciting career opportunity for an Environmental Planner/Environmental Project Manager with our North Mountain Operations (UT, ID, MT and NV) working in our South Jordan, UT office . This individual will have the opportunity to be involved in projects with our Earth and Environment Planning and Permitting Team across the Southwest and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges, while advancing the U.S. energy transition and clean energy revolution. 

Your Impact
•    Manage projects and projects portfolios ranging significantly in budget, scope and technology, with numerous energy industry leading clients, as well as federal and state agency clients. 
•    Plan and control project schedules and budgets
•    Lead preparation of permitting applications and related studies/assessments, while also directing staff and guiding team members in similar efforts. 
•    Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
•    Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Biology or related. 
•    Minimum 7 - 10+ years experience in Environmental Permitting or related field, and prior experience with preparing and/or reviewing permits
•    Existing working relationships with regulatory agencies in Utah is preferred (both Federal and State).  Additional expertise and working relationships across Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Nevada would be ideal but not required 
•    Experience with Utah Division of Natural Resources, Utah State Historic Preservation office, or Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (SITLA), etc.
•    Ability to lead successful business development pursuits with energy and other industry and government agency clients across the Intermountain West geography, while also helping to maintain and grow client relationships.
•    Experience preforming and managing wildlife and habitat assessments, wetland delineations, and other environmental studies for renewable energy development, as well as other energy technologies. 
•    Knowledge of siting and routing for electric transmission projects, gas infrastructure, and other linear projects
•    Knowledge of wetland permitting requirements, including federal, state and local regulations. 
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project Scheduling. 
•    Energy project development experience with an emphasis on renewable energy and transmission projects.
•    Strong project management experience, as well as familiarity with contracts, scheduling, and budgeting. 
•    Experience managing teams of regional subject matter experts
•    Ability to travel for meetings and site/field work. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); experience with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, e.g. BLM, USACE, USFWS, CPW, UDWR, etc.; western energy clients, such as regulated utilities, independent power producers.
