This Opportunity

WSP is seeking an experienced career track junior to mid-level Environmental Professional to supplement our West Texas team. Operations are based in El Paso, but we are willing to examine options for Midland/Lubbock/Amarillo area. You will be involved in wide variety of projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

You will take part in providing technical assistance for the collection, evaluation, and reporting of environmental and geological data from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor).  The Team focuses on the generation of accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that we deliver a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Depending on your level of experience, you will either lead or provide support to technical staff and project managers for due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation projects. Tasks may include conducting collecting environmental samples from various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air/vapor) and generating accurate and concise documentation regarding field conditions supporting a comprehensive understanding of the fate, transport and environmental risks of contaminants.

Your Impact

  • Junior to mid-level experience in a wide range of environmental services including groundwater monitoring, soil and groundwater sampling, Phase I and Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos and mold.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and analysis.
  • Write or support technical reports summarizing studies with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures for safety and field documentation.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field work permitting.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Prepare data evaluations and visualizations, maps, and other illustrations.
  • Contribute to preparation of technical reports and presentations. 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline. 
  • 2 to 10 years of related project field and reporting experience
  • Texas Professional Geologist or Geologist-in-Training track preferred
  • Experience or willingness to learn asbestos and mold services (current Texas-licensing is a plus)
  • Experience with Texas environmental regulations
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
