This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Technician for the Jacksonville, FL – Baymeadows Road office.  Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Conduct monitoring events following standards and procedures that may include sampling of groundwater, soil, soil gas, sediment, and surface water.
  • Oversee field activities that may include installation of groundwater monitoring wells, piezometers, and soil vapor extraction wells.
  • Perform soil and groundwater remediation activities such as soil source removal and groundwater bioremediation injections.
  • Maintain groundwater and soil vapor remediation systems.
  • Perform field measurements and calculations.
  • Record and compile field data using tablets and field meters.
  • Perform assigned office duties, such as equipment maintenance, management of equipment maintenance logs and, ordering/stocking field supplies.
  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors, subcontractors, client representatives, homeowners, and WSP employees.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • 3 years of hands-on field experience, including familiarity with groundwater and soil sampling techniques and field procedures
  • Ability to independently complete field assignments and summarize field data for use in reporting
  • Proficient MS Office skills and data collection tablets
  • Ability to safely lift 40 pounds
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols
  • Strong initiative, problem-solving and communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and a professional attitude
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments as dictated by project demands (including to remote locations and outside work in various climates up to 50% of time)
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree in the field of engineering, environmental sciences, or related discipline
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER)
