This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a GIS Associate Consultant for our Redmond, WA office. Be involved in projects with our GIS and Digital Services, Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

The successful candidate will take part in providing local technical assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships as it pertains to client projects. Assignments may include supporting technical staff with spatial mapping, discovering patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. The role also includes the generation of accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Your Impact

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams across various fields including water, geohazard management, geotechnical engineering, mining, ecology, and environmental sciences.
  • Perform geospatial database development, management and organization, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping for project teams locally and across the country.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports by creating maps/figures/other graphics and summarizing statistics of geospatial data for report tables and charts.
  • Organize and bring spatial data to life through the creation of web-apps, dashboards, and web-based platforms (e.g. ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS WebApp Builder, and ArcGIS Enterprise).
  • Use LiDAR data to generate 3D models and perform various types of analyses (e.g. elevation change detection, flowpath delineation, aboveground biomass calculations, etc.). 
  • Create scripts using Python, R, JavaScript, or other languages to manage, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Support field staff with surveys and data collection and assist with field data management/analysis using ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and GPS hardware/software.
  • Maintain quality assurance and control with adherence to global company standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Develop, streamline, and implement GIS workflows and produce detailed and comprehensive workflow documentation.
  • Adhere to cartographic standards and communicate complex information in an accessible and attractive manner.
  • Balance multiple project tasks related to geospatial analysis, database design and management, data organization, and data visualization.
  • Implement effective time management, working as part of an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced deadline and deliverable oriented setting.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS/Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Data Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior GIS experience. 
  • Advanced multi-year expertise with Esri’s ArcGIS Mapping Products (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
  • Multi-year experience with Esri’s suite of GIS products (ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, Experience Builder, etc.).
  • Multi-year experience with GIS field equipment, surveying, plotting coordinates, and data collection.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
  • Close attention to detail
  • Strong aptitude for learning new GIS skills, methods, and/or workflows.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize demands in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s in an accredited GIS, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, or related program.
  • Prior post-education/internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, Arcade, SQL, R, or other programming languages.
  • Experience with CADD.

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career. 

Expected Salary: $67,600 - $80,300
