Our Property and Buildings Team is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to work out of our New York, NY office.

We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities.
Your Impact
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners.
- Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
- Design of electric distribution systems, fire alarm systems, and lighting control systems.
- Scheduling and selecting of electrical components and equipment.
- Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
- Construction administration.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 1-3 years of post graduate experience working on electrical engineering design projects.
- Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering, and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- EIT registration.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $77,000 - $105,820
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
