This Opportunity

WSP USA Inc. is now offering a great opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Norcross (Atlanta), GA operations. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in our engineering Construction Materials Testing Laboratory.  

Your Impact

  • Performing laboratory tests on geosynthetics (plastics), geotechnical (soils, aggregates, & rock), and concrete in accordance with ASTM & AASHTO standards;
  • Shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage, and disposal of samples; and
  • Cleaning, maintaining, repairing and calibration of laboratory testing equipment;
  • Staying abreast of advancing technologies, methods, and research & development.
  • Participating in training activities, mentoring, and transferring knowledge to other employees.
  • Assisting with laboratory data entry and checking calculations.
  • Responding to the needs of several staff members at once, interact with all levels of staff and prioritize multiple tasks.    

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • The ability to work overtime hours (including evenings and weekends).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude:  Repairing and maintaining laboratory testing equipment.  
  • Lifting of heavy (i.e., 25 to 75 lbs.) containers (buckets, boxes, tubes, etc.) of various sizes.
  • Attention to details.
  • Safety oriented.
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiastic, shows initiative, and flexible.
  • Excellent spelling, proofreading, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualification

  • A college degree is preferred.  A Scientific degree and experience.
  • Familiar with ASTM & AASHTO test methods.
  • Experience in physical, mechanical, and materials testing (not chemical (analytical) or biological testing).
  • Strong organizational skills, possess problem solving abilities, keen mathematical, and analytical aptitude.   The ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment while maintaining strict quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe.
