WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer for our Austin, TX Office.

Your Impact

  • Planning, estimating, and conducting subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs in soil and rock
  • Capable of using commercially available geotechnical software
  • Perform Pavement Design and Pavement Management
  • Manage projects or geotechnical tasks, manage subconsultants
  • Communicate with with clients, respond to clients' requests, and attend design and progress meetings
  • Development and management of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing program
  • Execute geotechnical standard practice, develop geotechnical design and analysis strategy for transportation/transit projects, foundation design, retaining wall design, tunnel initial support design, support of excavation design, seismic design, instrumentation monitoring design, etc.
  • Development of plans and specifications related to geotechnical, underground and foundation engineering
  • Providing geotechnical support during construction
  • Perform and/or observe field and logging to soil/rock borings as required 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical design and construction
  • Texas PE registration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in Texas area geotechnical practice and geology
  • Proven experience with TxDOT and Design Build projects
  • Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, design and preparation of reports, drawings and specifications
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP"s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
