This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Development Civil Engineer for our Boise, ID office. Be involved in projects with our Pacific Mountain West Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact

  • Serve as Lead Civil Designer, Project Lead, or Task Lead on site development projects for clients in the  Pacific Mountain District (Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii and Guam).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in site development design for private clients including knowledge of standards and permitting. 
  • Proficiency with technical writing, Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D as it pertains to site development design and design documentation.
  • Lead project teams to achieve overall project objectives.
  • Maintain scope, schedule, budget, and identify changes and risks.
  • Work closely with clients to meet expectations.
  • Prepare and/or oversee scope, schedule and budget preparation and negotiations, as well as plans, specifications, estimates and/or bid packages.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control, ensuring that cost, schedule, and quality objectives are met for engineering activities and are commensurate with quality standards, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines, and workshare with other offices across the Pacific Mountain West and USA.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

People & Performance Leadership

  • Responsible to assist in the management, growth and development of the civil engineering practice in sustainable energy.
  • Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and contribute to the overall success of the  Pacific Mountain West District.
  • Mentor junior staff to support their growth and professional development.

Business Development

  • Collaborate with other local offices and in-house development experts to provide clients with innovative and future-focused solutions.
  • Support business development efforts, strategy development, client engagement and pursuits in the Pacific Mountain West District.
  • Engage with clients to develop new business leads and project pursuits.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for commercial/industrial/utility site civil engineering, solving grading and drainage challenges, coordinating across disciplines, permitting, and getting projects into construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience in site development.
  • Idaho, Washington, or Nevada Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within 6 months (multi-state preferred).
  • Experience as a task lead on private sector projects.
  • Management/leadership skills.
  • Established client relationships and industry contacts.
  • Experience participating in business development strategy development and implementation.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment, as well as writing proposals and project-related documents like project scopes of work and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
  • Experience working with agencies having jurisdiction and permitting.
  • Experience in grading and drainage design and solutions.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
