Our team is seeking an energetic Lead Electrical Engineer for our Process Infrastructure and Design group based in Arizona, Utah or Colorado offices on a full-time basis. The team you will join will offer interesting diversity of global clients and projects in Environmental Infrastructure facilities, renewable energy, water treatment plants, utilities, surface, and underground mine infrastructure including dewatering, material handling, fuel and lube, maintenance shops, and pumping stations, industrial facilities, landfills and contaminated soil sites.

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, with excellent communication skills, possessing a skill set for electrical infrastructure design and project management. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading electrical engineering designs, electrical equipment upgrades, arc flash hazards analysis, low and medium voltage facility power distribution system design, switchgear, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, lighting systems, photometrics, data and communication systems, emergency and standby systems, and other related equipment for the Mechanical and Process disciplines.

Location: Phoenix, AZ is preferred but this individual can also work in our Lakewood CO, Helena MT or  Salt Lake City, UT offices.

Your Impact

•    Acts as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components of varying degrees of complexity.
•    Lead electrical engineering and design teams and supports project managers as needed to manage the project scope, schedule, and budget. 
•    Leads and develops electrical designs for LV and MV voltage systems including but not limited to electrical calculations, equipment data sheets, electrical specifications, control panel, motor schematics, single line diagrams, hazardous area classification studies, lighting protection, grounding, and lighting plans.
•    Develop electrical computer models using computer software (ETAP, SKM, Easypower, etc.), perform related analysis, and create technical reports based upon those results (for load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, harmonic analysis, equipment, and component sizing, etc.)
•    Prepares and revises Brownfield and Greenfield documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, diagrams and details.
•    Prepare drawing, engineering and bid packages for the contractor and the client.
•    Provides guidance, training and mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers, designers, and drafters.
•    Conducts quality assurance and implements quality control on own projects.
•    Conducts reviews of project deliverables produced by peers and other engineers.
•    Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
•    Oversees and manages multiple projects.
•    Evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials.
•    May occasionally travel to project sites in US.  Approximately 10% overnight travel.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

•    Licensed Professional Engineer, PE
•    Minimum of bachelor’s degree Engineering with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering
•    Minimum of 7 - 10 years of experience in medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems
•    With a minimum of 7 - 10 years of related work experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
•    Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of industry standards and best practices including NEC, IEEE, and others.
•    Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to work within a team.
•    Strong planning, organization, and execution skills
•    Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to project sites.  Approximately 10% overnight travel.
•    Must pass background check.

Compensation
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $105,000 - $150,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
