This Opportunity

Provides high level technical assistance and guidance multi-site/phase environmental engineering work processes, due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects.  Develops processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, pollution control, and preserving the environment.  Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on field conditions, movement, and outcome of overall risks to ecological and human health.  Assists project leadership with environmental site assessment, corrective strategies, classification of contaminated materials, development of process and infrastructure, and with recommendations to avert degradation of air, water, and land resources.  Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Environmental Engineer in our Environmental Group at our One Penn office in New York City.

Your Impact

  • Diligently manage a diverse portfolio of environmental projects for clients in the NYC Metro Area. The scope of projects includes the preparation of environmental permit applications for submittal to regulatory authorities for large infrastructure and renewal energy projects, regulatory compliance reviews, and related assignments.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget and coordinate with appropriate staff to ensure project KPI's are met.
  • Perform technical work in the areas presented above.
  • Support Business Line Leader and Group Manager on business development and proposal preparation efforts as assigned.
  • Remain current in latest environmental regulations.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in environmental engineering. 
  • Prior project management, technical, and/or 7-10 years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • New York State Professional Engineer License and/or Project Management Professional.
  • Excellent writing skills. 

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $111,400 - $189,300
