WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Mid-Level Structural Engineer, with the potential to work out of Portland, OR; Vancouver, WA; San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; or Virginia Beach, VA.

Be involved in projects with our Structural Buildings Team in the Federal Programs Group and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Our Federal Programs Group comprises of highly motivated engineers, architects and interior designers with a variety of technical backgrounds working in several key locations across the US and internationally. Major clients are U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Postal Service, and U.S. National Park Service. Your Impact

  • Independently perform and supervise structural analysis, design, and assessment of building structures.
  • Lead development of plans and specifications in accordance with client requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in design with all major construction materials.
  • Supervise and assist in preparation of drawings in REVIT.
  • Independently prepare basis of designs, detailed design calculations, technical reports, and assessment reports.
  • Understand interdisciplinary requirements for building projects and be capable of performing QA/QC reviews.
  • Attend client meetings and perform site visits.
  • Assist with inspection and design which requires work both in field and office settings.
  • Mentor developing structural engineers.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior structural (buildings) or civil design experience.
  • Hands-on analyses and design experience (Risa3D, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD, MathCAD, TEDDS, EnerCalc, Revit)
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results oriented, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Working knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Masters in Structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer license.
  • Prior experience with Federal clients (DoD, NAVFAC, USACE, etc).
  • Experience with Federal design standards (UFCs and UFGS).
  • Seismic design and assessment experience.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government issued Secret level Security Clearance.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $69,600 - $157,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
