WSP’s ID team is currently accepting applications for a Project Coordinator to work out of our Washington, DC office and provide home office management of USAID or FCDO governance projects, while actively supporting business development in governance, economic growth and other sectors. WSP is seeking an enterprising professional, who takes initiative, works well with a team, and can effectively multi-task between project management and business development.

Your Impact

Operations/Project Management Support 

  • Support the full lifecycle of assigned projects from start-up to close-out, including contractual compliance, operations, and finances.
  • Oversee project budget and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and working closely with the field team to update resource allocations and revise projections, as needed.
  • Coordinate with HO Project Accountant on preparing, reviewing, and submitting client invoices per contract invoicing schedule, ensuring compliance with client contract and policies.
  • Review/approve project expense reports in Oracle and coordinate with field finance and operations teams for reviewing and processing purchase orders, vendor invoices, and suppliers’ payments, including grant payments in Markview.
  • Ensure compliant project administration, including procurement, staffing, financial management, travel, and maintaining trackers and compliant project files.
  • Work with field project leadership and HR to screen CVs to support identification of qualified candidates for local and global (expatriate) project positions and consultancies.
  • Support the establishment and updating of proper field policies and procedures to ensure compliance with client contracts and WSP operations and quality control requirements, and allow for effective administrative functions (e.g., financial management; HR; contracts and grants management; procurement; and facilities and logistical support).
  • Develop, update, and track core project management documents such as Project Management Plan, Risk Management Plans, Project Quality Plans, and Health and Safety Plans. 
  • Coordinate closely with field management team and WSP operations teams (e.g., HR, Payroll, Finance, Contracts), escalating and resolving questions and problems as appropriate.

Business Development

  • Support Capture Managers and Proposal Leaders in new business pursuits through conducting competitor analysis, identifying partners, recruiting staff, preparing qualifications statements, conducting research on technical issues and drafting proposal inputs.
  • Coordinate with corporate recruiters to screen CVs for identification of qualified candidates for new business opportunities.  
  • Support the development of proposal budgets.
  • Participate in external international development events, building relationships with clients, partners, and counterparts.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, political science, business, finance or related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience working on USAID and FCDO projects strongly preferred.
  • Technical understanding of at least one area of democracy and governance programming – public financial management, local governance, transparency and accountability, or civil society – preferred.
  • Familiarity with USG financial reporting and compliance requirements preferred.
  • Ability to work productively on a team but also able to work independently, taking initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral) and proficiency in Spanish.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet).
