This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full time Resident Engineer  for our Seattle, WA  office.  The following locations will also be considered: Federal Way, WA .  Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Supervise, develop and train field staff and other construction support staff assigned to a project.
  • Supervise and conduct the inspection and review of work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
  • Responsible for field inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
  • Verify and review project documentation for acceptance including pay applications, change orders, submittals, shop drawings, cost reduction proposals, traffic control modifications, and others
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, and contractors
  • Manage the construction management team, including sub-consultants
  • Review and make recommendations for contractors' project schedules and non-conforming work
  • Lead construction meetings with client and contractors
  • Meeting with prospective clients to learn about future CM pursuit opportunities
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering-related field experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) 
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Valid drivers’ license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in local municipalities and/or local DOT.
  • Background in construction management, architecture, or engineering fields.
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Familiarity with e-Builder, MS Office , MS Project and other PC software used on design and construction projects
  • Bridge and highway construction inspection experience

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $111,400- $165,440
