This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Roadway Engineer to join our thriving transportation practice in Miami, FL! This individual will primarily be helping with various civil engineering tasks in support of our thriving Florida transportation practice and will have the opportunity to be a key contributor on major, marquee transportation projects.

Your Impact

  • Serve as task manager for civil engineering projects
  • Develop traffic control plans for DOT and municipal projects
  • May also support design-build or other civil engineering projects as needed
  • Horizontal and vertical design of roadway elements
  • Development of traffic control and roadway plan sheets and details
  • Ability to review and understand roadway improvement plans
  • Roadway concept design for turn lanes, intersections, sidewalks and pedestrian facilities
  • Bicycle facilities and complete streets design
  • Details and special provisions development
  • Cost estimate preparations
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assist with laying out installations, establishing reference points/elevations/grades to guide construction, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
  • 3-5 years of progressive engineering design experience with emphasis on transportation engineering
  • Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
  • Experience in maintenance of traffic and traffic control 
  • Working knowledge of Microstation / Geopak
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements
  • Knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering license
  • Experience in traffic control and construction staging plans
  • Knowledge of Microstation 3D modeling software  #LI-PJ1
