This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Assistant Field Inspector for our Holland, MI office. Be involved in projects with our Waste Industry Services Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Assist with performing basic professional inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits.
- Provide entry-level technical assistance documenting geotechnical drilling investigations, proper construction of geosynthetic containment and leachate collection systems, stormwater controls, infrastructure, and equipment according to provided design specifications.
- Assist with verifying construction quantities, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation related to inspection findings Comply with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract.
- Comply with client and regulatory policies and procedure for inspection work under contract.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience
- General awareness of construction principles and field inspection practices.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. This may include extended travel and weekend work.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in surveying, or the use of design software such AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar
