WSP USA is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidates who will be responsible for delivering Mechanical Inspection Construction Management Services. The Inspection position is to support WMATA's Bus Facility & Infrastructure Program. The candidate will supervise assigned site construction activities and report on progress, safety and compliance. The position requires an effective experienced professional who works cooperatively to deliver the program meeting the quality standards per the technical specifications and in accordance with WMATA's Quality Safety and Security procedures.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to work with the WSP Program and Construction Management group as a full-time Inspector for Transportation Projects in the Baltimore, Maryland and Metro Washington, DC areas.
Your Impact
Job Duties:
- Review contract construction packages and recommend enhancement and comment on any compliance issues.
- Coordinate the work with all contractors and confirm that program deliverables conform with the technical specifications and respective contract provision;
- Resolve and effectively communicate construction issues with the Construction Team Leader in a timely manner to maintain program on schedule and budget;
- Review contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and scope changes. Escalate concerns to the Construction Manager;
- Provide technical and cost analysis support. Review requests for changes submitted by the construction contractors and make recommendations for acceptance;
- Assist the Program Manager with the closeout of construction contracts;
- Report on contractor progress daily and provide written details of any non conformance issues
- Work schedule varies according to job assignments and/or contractor schedules, to include night work, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This is a site based role in the DC area and remote working is not an option.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- 11 years of demonstrable experience working as a mechanical inspector.
- High School diploma
- Ability to pass WMATA Contractor’s Safety Training.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong Attention to detail
- Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment; read and interpret transit rail, roadway, bridge, and structure plans and contract specifications; maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with agency, contractor personnel and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
- Transit/rail experience
