This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our San Francisco, CA Office. Be involved in projects with our Northern California Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project lifecycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities, and many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm.

Your Impact

Responsibilities include:

  • Project/Financial Management – working within project budgets.
  • Business Development – maintaining client relationships.
  • Client Interaction.
  • Collaborate with internal (local, national, and international) and external client team members.
  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects

Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Service utility coordination.
  • Power distribution.
  • Lighting and lighting controls.
  • Fire alarm.
  • Grounding systems.
  • Low voltage infrastructure.
  • Emergency power systems.
  • UPS design.
  • Coordination with city and state permitting agencies.
  • Creation of project drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee Construction administration.
  • Follow WSP's quality control process.
  • Mentoring staff and sharing knowledge.
  • Support senior engineers with research and recommendations of components identified in design requirements.
  • Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 5-10 years’ experience designing electrical systems for the built environment. 
  • Engineer In Training (E.I.T. Certification) or equivalent.
  • Project experience submitted for consideration should include buildings on which you have actively participated in the project from the design phase through the final construction close-out. 
  • Interest in a wide range of market sectors – such as healthcare, commercial, high-rise residential, aviation, retail, data center, etc.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, design/bid/build and the application to permitting and project work-related issues
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies
  • Special consideration will be given to those candidates who have successfully demonstrated innovative design experience specifically related to renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction standards, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of ETAP.
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in the healthcare industry with HCAi experience.
  • PE and /or LEED AP.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $69,600 - $157,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
