WSP is currently initiating a search for a full time Senior Marketing Manager. The Senior Marketing Manager is a key position working closely with business leadership to develop, execute and monitor the overall marketing strategy and help achieve marketing and sales performance goals across the Texas Southwest District. The position can be located within any of our offices in the Texas Southwest District, including Austin, Dallas or Houston.

The Senior Marketing Manager will work in a leadership role to drive strategy with a variety of staff (from planners and engineers to designers and construction managers) across the vertical and horizontal infrastructure. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and possess proven ability to lead strategy around the District's largest opportunities. We are looking for an energetic, motivated and self-starter candidate with strong local industry knowledge to support growth across all of WSP’s business lines. The position is responsible for leading or overseeing all pursuit and proposal efforts in close working relationship with client care and pursuit teams. The senior marketing manager will lead development of strategic marketing plans for specific clients and pursuits, including creation of tactical action plans, development of win themes and technical solutions, strategic teaming discussions, issue identification/resolution, written strategy development, and presentation coaching.

We are looking for a motivated people-person with excellent writing and communication skills to lead the entire capture planning and proposal process. The position requires strong marketing and business development leadership skills for a large, multidisciplinary engineering operation. While our ideal candidate will bring experience in the AEC or professional services industries, what we’re looking for is someone with a collaborative, can-do attitude that has a special knack for creativity and persuasive storytelling. The right candidate will be an empathetic leader who works to build community through positivity and can bring home the win! This individual will work with the Texas Southwest District Marketing Director, business line management and/or district management to align priorities and drive successful proposal, pursuit and marketing activities across the geographical region. In addition, will support local teams in positioning for major pursuits, including capture planning, and pipeline development.

Your Impact

  • Works with limited oversight, possesses a high level of skill with interpersonal relationships and employs persuasive communications skills.
  • Works closely with leadership to drive WSP’s marketing and sales process around top opportunities.
  • Facilitates the development and execution of winning pursuit strategies for the firm’s complex/largest pursuits across the West Region with national business lines.
  • Independently leads marketing efforts in partnership with pursuit champions on large, complex pursuits through the life of the pursuit from pre-RFP to proposal and interview phases. Assists in developing and maintaining pursuit capture plan; works closely with pursuit teams to drive early pre-positioning and pursuit readiness efforts. Organizes and facilitates pursuit strategy meetings to develop pursuit strategies, perform SWOT analyses, develop key sales messages, themes and differentiators.
  • Collaborates with pursuit teams to monitor progress and improvement of readiness score.
  • Leverages resources across the firm to support all stages of the pursuit and differentiate WSP to 
    the client, including identifying key staffing resources/SMEs to maximize involvement across all business lines. Works with graphic design staff to plan and produce materials ensuring all proposal materials are effectively communicating the strategic vision identified for a given pursuit to present best-in-class outputs. Oversees quality of marketing deliverables and compliance with WSP procedures.
  • Coaches and leads presentation teams including facilitating interview strategy and storyboarding meetings, preparing materials, providing constructive feedback to presenters on style and content, preparing teams for Q&A and other presentation requirements.
  • Identifies and helps apply new technologies and innovations across the business for proposals and presentations, including creative media approaches and other types of digital tools.
  • Maintains pursuit data accuracy.
  • Supports debriefing activities post procurement.
  • Supports client care teams to develop client-focused strategies and action plans to improve WSP’s visibility and reputation, understand WSP’s position with the client, and to solicit feedback on existing work.
  • Supports annual strategic planning initiatives.
  • Follows WSP’s high standards for ethical behavior and quality in all marketing activities.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the AEC industry preferred, including a minimum of seven years managing complex A/E/C proposals and pursuits. 
  • Mentoring experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses a strategic mindset and sound judgment and ability to develop and manage strategic capture plans
  • Ability to build trust and influence others and work with all levels of management staff
  • Capability to develop strategic actions and implementation of plans
  • Leadership skills to establish reviews at all levels and manage marketing staff in support of pursuit
  • Provide training to marketing staff in the pursuit and presentation processes
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint, and other communications-related software programs
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to lead and influence diverse teams
  • Problem solving abilities, including conflict resolution under time sensitive production expectations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the district and region, as needed
