WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Water Resource Engineer for our Boston, MA office.  Be involved in projects with our Water Business Line Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Assist Senior Engineers, Project Manager and Project Teams in the development of a wide variety of multi-discipline land development, public/private utility infrastructure, stormwater management and roadway projects.
  • Perform civil/site, utility, stormwater management design analyses including performing hydraulic calculations/modeling and determining basic design requirements for infrastructure design/upgrades, new development, municipality, marine/coastal, climate/resiliency and institutional projects.
  • Prepare permitting application and supporting documents.
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and concise technical reports and documentation summarizing analysis and project requirements, including how design approach addresses project requirements, using electronic systems and software.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to prepare contract drawings through a solid understanding of Civil 3D design.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and GIS tools in support of H&H analyses through a basic understanding of hydraulic modeling. 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. 

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Water Resources or closely related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in an engineering office with a focus on the land development, infrastructure, resiliency and stormwater management.
  • Professional Engineering License or on track to take exam within a 1 year of hire. 
  • Experience and working knowledge of the following:
    • AutoCAD production and civil design software (Civil 3D);
    • Hydraulic Design for pipes and channels; (HydroCAD, PCSWMM, etc.)
    • Knowledge of GIS software and applications (e.g., Arc GIS, etc.) 
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new modeling software and techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and comply with company policies.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology,  spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to travel to local project sites to support business needs.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Civil 3D pipe network and/or pressure network is a plus.
  • Master's Degree in the above referenced disciplines.
  • Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable
