WSP USA is seeking a Sr. Bridge Inspection Engineer to join our dynamic Structures Bridge Design/Inspection Group in New England. We are looking to hire in Boston & Worcester, MA and Providence, RI.
Your Impact
- Work with our Bridge/Highway Design Team on a variety of project development and design tasks.
- Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
- Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings
- Work as a Team Member on Bridge Inspections
- Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in bridge inspection or design or other bridge related work.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program. OR actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program.
- Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.
- Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
