This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a SeniorProject Manager (Construction with a Civil Background emphasis) for our Client Site in Rush, New York.  Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.  

Your Impact

  • Provide assistance to New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Project Manager as directed
  • Oversight of multiple construction contracts
  • Ensure OGS policies and procedures are being followed
  • Intervene when necessary to ensure timely completion of project work
  • Coordination with design team
  • Aid in resolving design issues should they arise
  • Review and process Request-for-Information and Information-Bulletins
  • Oversee safety and security
  • Track contractor submittals utilizing submittal exchange
  • Keep OGS D&C Area Supervisor informed of progress and issues
  • Conduct Bi-Weekly project meetings
  • Complete Bi-Weekly job reports
  • Create and track Field Orders and Change Orders
  • Assess impact of change requests or delays on the project schedule and budget
  • Monitor contractor’s schedule in Primavera P6 to ensure timely completion of project work
  • Hold monthly pre-schedule meeting and monthly schedule update meetings
  • Review and assist OGS personnel with claim responses or contractor disputes, if necessary
  • Monthly contractor payment review & tracking of certified payrolls
  • Ensure compliance with the project specific construction management plan
  • Oversight of Inspector duties
  • Coordination with OGS Code Inspection personnel
  • Complete accident reporting if necessary
  • Coordinate with OGS Office Manager to ensure proper project filing
  • Process gate clearance request and criminal background checks for all contractors/vendors
  • Perform additional duties as deemed necessary
  • Actively track, monitor, research validity and compliance with Contract documents for all work from inception to final closure. 
  • Communicate with Contractors and project team.  
  • Manage project contract documents, codes, policies and procedures
  • Manage field memorandums and field directives
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher degree two years of professional experience construction planning, cost estimating, project scheduling, resource management (including labor, material, and equipment scheduling), and construction document reading and interpretation.  
  • 7-10 years minimum experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects valued above $10 million, with knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.
  • 5-7 years minimum experience in construction PROGRAMS involving WICK'S LAW (multiple Prime Contractors) 
  • A minimum of 4 years of the experience shall be in the role of assistant project manager responsible for large scale projects valued above $10 million with an extensive knowledge of all facets of construction and construction documents.
  • Must be able to manage the various projects using established controls and procedures and provide job site leadership in all areas of scheduling, safety, quality, coordination with the designers and any critical issues pertinent to the project or the client / facility. 
  • OSHA 30 Certification Required
  • Strong Civil Engineering background with experience of inspection requirements for various trades
  • Have a full working knowledge of the change order and cost review process and the review / approval of contractor’s payment application.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Windows / Outlook / Word / Excel and scheduling applications
  • Understanding of construction scheduling utilizing Primavera P6
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license - Occasional travel within the region will be required.
  • Must be available to work alternate work hours on as needed basis.
  • Proven ability to adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • This hire will be contingent upon client selection and successful background check.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  •  Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil project background is preferred 
  • Knowledge of NYS Building Code
  • Experience with Submittal Exchange, Bluebeam and Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Experience with Institutional Construction preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $92,800 - $142,560
