WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Water Resources Engineer for our Lawrenceville, NJ office. The following locations will also be considered: Philadelphia, PA. Your Impact
- Perform professional water resources engineering work and conduct investigations, analysis, and inspections relating to stormwater facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with emission and mass balance calculations, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
- Analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models and computations for storm water and watershed master planning, and water quality studies.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.
- Design a variety of facilities, such as bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities.
- Prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate regulated impoundment structures for compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Remain current in latest water resource engineering techniques.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.
- Knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
- Knowledge of New Jersey Department of Transportation design standards and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Permitting processes is a plus.
- High Competency levels in multiple disciplines including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater management & best management practice design, and transportation drainage design.
- Experience using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., PondPack, HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, StormCAD, Microstation Inroads S&S and Civil 3D AutoCAD) is required. Proven experience with ArcGIS is a plus.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) license NJ preferred
- Prior design experience.
- Master’s degree in water resources or environmental engineering
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
