WSP is currently looking for a full-time Structural Project Engineer to join our Boise, ID office's growing Property & Buildings practice. A successful candidate will be involved with buildings projects as part of our structural engineering team and will become a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves complex challenges. Your Impact
- Under the supervision of a senior engineer, Project Manager, or lead engineer, perform structural design of new buildings and modifications of existing buildings throughout the United States.
- Analyze and design building structures and foundations using timber, concrete, steel, and masonry systems.
- Develop high quality construction documents.
- Utilize latest technology and digital tools for design, detailing, and visualization.
- Assist senior engineers with Construction Administration tasks, including review of shop drawing submittals and answering contractor Requests For Information (RFIs).
- Collaborate with BIM technicians to provide structural construction documents, including development of modeled content and detail views.
- Provide limited oversight to entry-level engineering staff in the completion of simple engineering tasks.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on a wide range of projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience.
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project related issues.
- Familiarity with relevant structural design standards and codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc).
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Experience with structural design software (i.e., AutoCAD,Revit, MathCad, STAAD, Enercalc, RISA 3D, ADAPT, SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, etc). ).
- The ability to abide by WSP’s health and safety standards, drug and alcohol policies, and anti-harassment guidelines.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain a P.E. License.
- Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- A member of local professional practice organizations.
